Everyone Can Learn
I have had over 10 years of teaching experience, ranging from ages 3 - adult. My teaching style is largely influenced by the Suzuki Method, as well as other teaching influences, which allows me to adapt to the progress and skill level of the student.

My Teaching Philosophy
As a music teacher, I firmly believe that music and music education is necessary for the well-being of our society and their respective communities. Therefore, it is our responsibility to make sure that creating and connecting via music is widely available and accepted as an integral part of our daily lives. Music and the arts help to create well rounded and productive members of society, and I take that responsibility quite seriously.
Furthermore, in the same vein as Dr. Suzuki, I firmly believe that every person is capable of being a musician. I even go as far to state that any person with a body can make music, as we are all innately able to create sound and music. Along with that, I recognize that each person has their own set of unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and I seek to find a distinct method of teaching that works best for each individual student. I also seek to play into each student’s interests and help their passions to drive the educational process.
Finally, I strive to make sure that many styles and cultures are represented in my teaching. While classical study can provide a student with a good technical foundation, I cannot in good conscience leave out other genres and representations. Not only would this be culturally irresponsible, but it would also deny the student other useful techniques and experiences outside of classical music. Not to mention, in the extremely diverse freelancing climate we preside in, it is a necessity for students to be flexible in professional situations. Finally, as stated before, I want my students to be well-rounded musicians and individuals, and differing musical genres can be an amazing key into genuine human connections.

Instruction Offered
While my main instruments are violin and viola, I also offer instruction on mandolin, piano, ukulele, and music theory. I am based in New York City, and also offer virtual instruction.

Private Lessons
While private lessons are hand-tailored to each student, I believe that there are three core parts of each lesson - review, technique, and building new skills - and each lesson is structured with these things in mind. Lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 minute increments weekly.

Group Lessons
Learning how to communicate and play music with others is at the core of becoming a well-rounded musician, and person. Group learning is often an effective way to teach certain musical principles, and a great way of building camaraderie amongst all levels and ages of those in my studio. Group lessons are offered once a week or by request.
